Welcome to Deep Bucket Outfitters! We are a freshwater guide service specializing in smallmouth bass, dedicated to providing bucket-list worthy trips for our clients. While our guide service may be new, we have decades of combined experience in fishing bass tournaments.
The idea for a guide service came about while thinking about our next steps in the fishing industry. We have experienced fishing in world-class destinations, and know what it’s like to feel the excitement of catching a bucket list fish, and we want to share that experience! The name, Deep Bucket, comes from our philosophy that a bucket list should be “deep” – there is a great big world out there begging to be explored, and we would be thrilled to help you cross something off of your list!
About Door County
Door County, Wisconsin is legendary for its smallmouth fishing. While there are many other species that swim in these waters, the smallmouth bass is one of the hardest fighting and most fun to catch. With its clear water, rocky bottom, islands, bluff walls, and numerous other features, the waters of “the Door” offer a variety of habitat that produce not only quality smallmouth, but numbers of them!
Aside from excellent fishing, Door County offers numerous state and county parks, breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and of course, cherries! We would be happy to provide recommendations for your stay – just ask!
Meet Your Captains
Captain Sam

Sam has been fishing her entire life, beginning to specialize in bass around age 9. Whether fishing from the bank, a canoe, float tube, or a boat, she was determined to catch the biggest, baddest bass she could. With over 15 years of tournament experience, Sam fell in love with Sturgeon Bay early on in her tournament career. Sam was the first woman to make a Wisconsin Divisional team, heading to Toledo Bend for the BASS Nation Divisionals in 2018. She has also taught smallmouth bass fishing clinics with Wisconsin Women Fish. Sam enjoys saltwater fishing as well, and has caught a roosterfish that earned her a spot in the International Game Fish Association’s Trophy Roosterfish Club.
“Sturgeon Bay has always had a special place in my heart and I am excited to be in a place where I am able to share my excitement and knowledge with other anglers!”
Sam has her USCG Master Captain’s license for the Great Lakes and is CPR certified.
Captain Mike

Mike has also been fishing his entire life. He began his journey fishing with his stepdad at the time had taught him everything he knew about fishing and patterning the target species. Mike started tournament fishing in 2013 and had qualified for the BASS Nation Divisional team in 2014. Mike specializes in bass fishing but equally enjoys targeting multi-species because each type of fish presents their own challenges.
Mike has his USCG Master Captain’s License for the Great Lakes and is CPR certified.
